01 Where your swimmer starts
Two ways in. One free evaluation decides.
Brand new to the water? Start with Learn to Swim. Already swimming? A free evaluation places your swimmer straight into a class.
Learn to Swim — private lessons
Ages 2 and up Runs June and July
One CPR and First Aid certified coach, one swimmer, one focused week: five 30-minute lessons, Monday through Friday. Daily repetition is how skills actually stick.
Nervous first-timers are exactly what one-on-one lessons are built for — we work at your child's pace, and we build the stroke properly from the very first week.
Continuing Education — small-group classes
Ages 3 and up Year-round
For swimmers who already have their basics: Angel, Leopard, and Sand Sharks, twice a week all year long.
Every swimmer joins with a free evaluation — that's how we place them in the right level. For many families, these classes are the on-ramp to the Sharks swim team.
Private lessons start at age 2.
One coach, one swimmer, five days in a row. It's the fastest way to turn a nervous first-timer into a child who trusts the water — and the right place to build a real stroke from the start.

03 The Continuing Education levels
Angel, Leopard, Sand.
All three levels meet twice a week, Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. You don't need to pick a level yourself — the free evaluation does that.
Angel Sharks
30 minutes 1 coach : 5 swimmers
For swimmers building confidence and the foundation of proper stroke technique, while keeping up their water safety habits. Develops freestyle with side breathing and backstroke.
Leopard Sharks
30 minutes 1 coach : 5 swimmers
The same freestyle and backstroke work, now adding butterfly and the breaststroke kick. Leopard Sharks are challenged to swim 15 meters, and may be invited by their coach into our monthly Shark Races.
Sand Sharks
45 minutes up to 1 coach : 10 swimmers
For swimmers who can cover 50 feet of freestyle with side breathing and 50 feet of backstroke. Adds breaststroke, racing starts and finishes, plus swimming terminology and reading the pace clock — and every Sand Shark races in the monthly Shark Races.
Joining us? Every swimmer starts with a free evaluation so we put them in the right level — new families and returning ones alike. Send an inquiry and we'll set it up.
Every Sand Shark races in our own monthly Shark Races.
04 The Shark Pathway
Eight sharks. One team.
Every AquaKids training group is named for a shark. The lessons on this page are the first four rungs — from there, swimmers move up to the competitive team.
Bull Sharks and up are the competitive team — see where your swimmer fits
The Turkey Shoot — one of the in-house meets where every group swims together.

07 Questions & policies
The things parents ask first.
What age can my child start?
Learn to Swim private lessons start at age 2. Continuing Education classes start at age 3.
My child already swims — do they need Learn to Swim first?
No. Learn to Swim is for beginners. If your swimmer already has the basics, a free evaluation places them straight into the right class — that's true for families new to AquaKids and for swimmers coming back to us.
What happens at the evaluation?
It's free, and there's nothing to pass or fail. A coach watches your swimmer in the water to see what they can already do, so we start them in the level that fits — Angel, Leopard, or Sand Sharks. It takes five to ten minutes.
What if my child is scared of the water?
Totally normal, and exactly what private lessons are for. Our coaches have spent decades earning the trust of nervous first-timers — we move at your child's pace, and a child who trusts the water is a child who can start building a real stroke.
What happens if there's lightning?
Florida afternoons being what they are, we watch the sky closely. If we have to cancel, we text you at least 30 minutes before the lesson starts — so you'll know before you get in the car.
How does billing work?
Class dues are billed monthly, on the first of the month. There's also an annual registration fee of $80 per swimmer at the start of each year. Accounts not paid by the fifth of the month add a $10 late fee.
Is anything running outside the summer?
Yes — Continuing Education classes run year-round. Learn to Swim private lessons run each summer, in June and July.
What should we bring?
A towel, goggles, and a swim cap for shoulder-length hair or longer. That's it — we'll tell you if your swimmer ever needs anything else.
Do we get the lesson back if it's cancelled?
Yes. When we cancel a class for lightning, Angel, Leopard, and Sand Sharks get a make-up date.
Let's find your swimmer's starting point.
Tell us your swimmer's age and what they can do in the water — we'll point you to the right program and the next opening.
